“I have small business experience, beginning in my childhood. My father was a small business professional and I grew up understanding the realities – the challenges of a sole practitioner, the importance of getting your money’s worth and making wise choices with your marketing budget.

“I’ve had Works by Design since 2004, and I’m here for the long haul.

“I know how important it is to work with someone who returns your calls and answers your questions, someone who has roots in the community and cares about your success. I want to be that person, that company, for you.”    ~ Lynn

Lynn Kinnaman has background in advertising, sales and marketing going back over 25 years. As new media has emerged, she has been involved in the use and study of best practices and how to get results.

Because her experience is strong in sales, advertising and small business experience, she has a unique perspective. She believes that media should be selected for what it can do for you, not because your neighbor said you “have to be on Facebook”.

Websites and technology exist to make it easier for the company to function efficiently, communicate well, establish relationships with and satisfy the needs of their target market. If you aren’t getting that from the tools you are using, it’s time to reassess their value in your activities.

Lynn’s been a Marketing Director for a national corporation, an Account Manager for an international marketing company and Communications Director for a software developer, as well as a writer, entrepreneur and small business owner. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English/Education and is an instructor for Adult Education in the Bozeman School District.

Lynn is a published writer, her articles have appeared in Big Sky Journal, Midwest Art, Sunset Magazine, Highlights for Children, and others. She garnered writing awards from the Montana Institute of the Arts, was nominated for the Pushcart Prize, served as president for the Montana Authors Coalition, founded the Big Sky Chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, was Book Project Manager for three book compilations, Editor/Contributing Writer for Yellowstone Country, GoldWest Country, Russell Country and Missouri River Country Travel Guides, was a stringer for the Billings Gazette and Great Falls Tribune, and a columnist for the Bozeman Chronicle.

She wrote Camping in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming (Avalon Travel Publishing), Southwest Montana Auto Adventures (Canyon Publications), Comfort Verses and Divorce is not Destiny (Works by Design Publications). More books, including Skinny Budget Marketing, are in development.

Lynn also organizes an annual writing conference, Get Published!, in Bozeman every summer.

Her ties to the Gallatin Valley community are strong and deep. She’s lived in Bozeman for nearly three decades, and has been active in community as a volunteer in the schools, with the Chamber of Commerce, Museum of the Rockies, Intermountain Opera, Bozeman Symphony and others. She’s served as Area Governor for Toastmasters, was part of a Therapy Team for Intermountain Therapy Animals, and speaker at events, meetings and conferences.

She established Works by Design, LLC in 2004 as a marketing, web design and writing service for individuals and small businesses.

“Lynn not only designs wonderful websites that help my businesses grow,
she’s a terrific resource for answers and advice in this confusing world of technology.
She knows her stuff and I rely on her expertise constantly.”

“When I started my business, I knew a website was important, but I had no idea
what it should look like or how it could make my business run more smoothly.
Lynn did a business assessment and created a wonderful website
that will grow as my business grows. I couldn’t be happier.”
